Do you think they serve dessert on a deserted island?

Let me just say....I love the weekends, not sure if I always have...who am I kidding of course I've ALWAYS loved the weekend, who doesn't?? At this point in my life, I consider it a way to escape the rest of the world and create a little "island" at home, just me...Rog and Rocket. While Rog is working, I venture out on Saturday, if necessary, to stock up on provisions (gotta hit the dollar store for my weekly candy fix) and then back home as quickly as possible to hunker down for the duration. Because Rog and I work different schedules all week, the weekend is our only time together so we've created a routine that shuts out the rest of the world to reconnect before the new week begins. You could actually compare it to what parents do when they are raising kids and consider it type of "date-night" except we turn Sunday into an entire "date-day." We usually have a couple movies from Netflix and we pop back and forth between the livingroom and the bedroom watching whatever strikes our fancy. There is plenty of napping, eating, and just being plain old laziness, which suits us just fine. It actually helps to unwind and prepares us for the week ahead. I usually feel totally relaxed on Monday morning and ready to face the work week without being exhausted from a busy run-a-round weekend. Whenever the world gets a little overbearing, I wonder what it would be like to escape to a deserted island where the little nagging worries of every day life would no longer exist. I like the sun and the sand, and enjoy eating fish, but lets face it, I get bored easily with the same routine and would soon tire of the all the "nothing" going on. So my reality was to create "LaFlamme Island" right here at home and I gotta tell you our life together on the weekends is just great...and the dessert ain't so bad either!

In the beginning...

In the beginning...wow that's a strange way to start a blog...the beginning of what???

I thought it would be interesting to begin a blog ever since I read my 1st one years ago. It may very well have been the blog my daughter and her boyfriend did in the spring of 2006 when they drove cross-country and took an extended 4 month vacation at my brother's home in Vancouver. I was intrigued at first and very happy to be able to follow along on their cross-country experience with the additional bonus of wonderful pictures to see the trip through their eyes. I don't think I knew at that time what a "blog" was or how involved one could get in their effort to share information with the rest of the world.

So, I guess this is my on-line adventure into the world of blogging with pictures added for your viewing pleasure. I warn you now, as my daughter would say, I love to talk so I imagine my writing will take on the same tone as my speaking voice...it may be never-ending at times. If that is the case, I offer all readers the option of clicking off the page to find something else that interests them. Continue at your own risk :)
